COUNTING DOWN TO THE TRANSAT JACQUES VABRE 2015

Posted by gill_admin on 23rd Oct 2015

Once again Louis Burton is competing in the Transat Jacques Vabre (TJV), making this his 6th transatlantic crossing and 3rd TJV. Sailing in his IMOCA 60, Bureau Vallée, co-skippered by Romain Attanasio, in his debut transatlantic crossing, the race leaves Le Havre in France on Sunday 25th October sailing 5,400 miles across the Atlantic to Itajai, Brazil. Talking about his imminent departure, Louis says "The Jacques Vabre is a great race because there are two of you onboard, which is a change to the IMOCA program. I know I can count on Romain (Attanasio) to hold the helm while I take a nap! The race takes us from far in north and makes us go far south, with complex weather systems and lots of difficulties to manage. We will pass by every season from winter to summer, so we need a high level and variety of technical clothing to adapt to each situation. And for four years, my equipment from Gill has never failed me!” Gill have been Louis’, and the Bureau Vallée teams, preferred clothing partner since 2012. Essential kit includes the Ocean Racer suit, providing the best protection of any gear we have ever made – having been around the world more than 10 times and racking up 240,000 nautical miles before we put it to market, whilst the Crosswind is an innovative mid layer solution providing the team with thermal protection. Our new Performance Boots are a welcome addition to the team’s kit list, providing waterproof and breathable protection in a tough yet lightweight design. We wish Louis and Romain the very best of luck in this legendary race [caption id="attachment_318" align="aligncenter" width="600"]Transat Jacques Vabre, TJV, Louis Burton, Bureau Vallee, Gill Race Team, Interdist IMOCA Bureau Vallee / Louis Burton[/caption]
