Gill Marine takes control of distribution and commercial strategy in Germany

31st Dec 2019

Gill, the world’s leading technical marine apparel brand, has hired Gunnar Struckmann as Country Sales Manager for the German market. He will join the business from January 1st 2020 based in Hamburg and reporting directly to Gill headquarters in the UK.

Since 1998, Gill has worked successfully with Jens Hoffman as their exclusive sales agent for Germany to develop their brand profile and sales in Germany. As Jamie Tunnicliffe, Gill’s CEO, commented, “Jens, our previous sales agent, has been a fantastic servant to the brand however, the time has come for personal reasons to part company and we are very grateful that he has left Gill in such a strong position in Germany. The opportunity to bring distribution and commercial management in-house fits perfectly with our strategy, which we have already successfully implemented in North America. With Gunnar’s experience we are confident he can build on our success in Germany and deliver even better results.”

Struckmann has a strong track record and background in the technical and commercial side of the marine market. For the last seven years he has been with Marinepool, first as International Sales Manager and most recently as Head of the Superyacht Division.

Looking ahead to an exciting year in 2020, Gunnar commented, “I am delighted to join a brand like Gill, which is already so well respected and trusted, but which is also looking to push boundaries and grow. I am looking forward to making sure customers in Germany have an even better experience in store and online and I am committed to broadening Gill’s appeal for adventurers both on and off the water. Ultimately, we want to be the leading brand in the marine market in Germany.”

Gill recently launched the first wave of their revamped dinghy collection, with more stylish new products set to hit the market in January and February across their Race, Performance and Active lines. Learn more at: https://www.gillmarine.com/de/
