Love Sailing? My Best Moment: Dan Ward
Posted by jennie on 2nd Feb 2018
We asked our Gill Race Team members about their best moments in sailing. Here's what Dan Ward had to say.
1. What’s the best moment in your sailing career?
Getting the opportunity to work with a boat designer on new equipment for the moth. Testing and trialing kit added to the excitement of training and not quite knowing what would work and what wouldn’t. Sailing in an invitational Moth event in Bermuda in 2016. The competition wasn’t quite going to plan but somehow I managed to turn it around, things started to click, and I ended up finishing top 10. If only it had happened sooner in the competition.
2.What is your favourite Gill kit?
The Compressor Vest. It has a snug fit and allows me to be agile around the boat, especially during tacking. The Speedskin Suit. It has reinforcement in the right places that means minimal wear when rubbing against deck. After 2 season's use mine are still going strong. The Neoprene Winter Gloves. The only gloves I know that fit nicely and can keep my hands warm throughout winter sailing. It means I don’t have to concentrate on keeping them moving and instead can focus on sailing. And the Championship Gloves – perfect for summer sailing, giving all the grip I need and keeps the hands protected.
